Critter Cavalry Adoption Request Form Application

Please read this page before completing your adoption application!

How Does This Work?

You will complete this form to request an adoption application form. If your request is approved you will be emailed and requested to complete the specific adoption application for this animal which will include the adoption fees, require you to provide proof of address (like a driver's license or utility bill), personal and vet references, and it will include all of the legal specifications. This application request form doesn't guarantee you will be selected to complete an application or that you will get the animal, but it lets us know that you are interested and that you have familiarized yourself with your organization and process. Read more about communication expectations on our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Organization Overview

Our mission is to decrease the euthanasia of shelter pets we transport animals from overcrowded rural Tennessee shelters to those communities that are looking for healthy shelter animals to adopt. Critter Cavalry abides by certain safeguards and restrictions including the legal requirements of each state in order to transport Tennessee Shelter pets to homes in Virginia, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. We also do local Middle Tennessee adoptions. Read more on our FAQ page.

The Application

In this application are basic questions, most of which focus on your home, lifestyle, and beliefs in how to properly care for a pet. You will be required to upload a photo of your Driver's License or another document that verifies your address (like a utility bill.) The purpose of this step is to validate your address. Feel free to black our account information for your security.

Our Adoption Fees:

Our adoption fees typically start at $500 and are generally between $500 - $1,000 for out of state adoptions. The adoption fee depends on many factors, including but not limited to your location, the location of the animal, and rescue expenses, including vet, transport, and rescue costs. Some local adoptions for adult dogs who have been in our care for several months may start at $375. Learn more about our variable fee schedule on our FAQ page.

Process & Expectations

After you complete this survey it will be automatically emailed to a Critter Cavalry volunteer. Our response time depends on the availability of volunteers, but we do our best to get back to inquiries within 2-4 days. That said, adoption applications are up 5x since the COVID crisis, so if you have not heard from someone in a few days, please be patient with us! Email is the best method to be in touch. Read more about process expectations on our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page.

Approval Process

Critter Cavalry Rescue reserves the right to approve or deny any application according to our adoption policies. Our only objective is to find good homes for the long-term well-being of our dogs. We do not contact all applicants whether their application is approved or not. For more information as to why, please read our FAQ page.

Mandatory Requirements

You must be 21 years of age or older in order to be considered as an adopter. You will be required to provide a government-issued ID or utility bill with your application for the purpose of verifying your address and identity.
